World War 1 trenches were dirty, smelly and riddled with diseases. For soldiers’ life in the trenches meant living in fear .Trench is a war tactic, or way of fighting that was commonly used on the Eastern Front and the Western Front in WW1. In trenches, the two sides fighting each other dig trenches in a battlefield to stop the enemy from advancing.

WW1 started in 1914 and ended in 1918. World War 1 is still taught in schools today and this important historical event has a lot of interesting events and facts that need to be remembered. The below facts and information cover the most important events in World War 1 as they happened, and why the war began in the first place.

There were also animals in the war.

One very clever animal was a dog which ran to places with a letter and delivered it to people.
