In 2023-2024 we have the following swimming arrangements in place: 

Term 1, 2 and 6 - Year 6 

Term 3 - 5 - Year 5 

Term 5 and 6 - Year 4

From 2022-2023 our swimming provision has changed to increase the % of children who have met the three swimming objectives at the end of KS2. 

Term 1 - 3 - Y4 and Y6 will go swimming 

Term 4 - 6 - Y3 and Y5 will go swimming 

During 2021-2022 swimming will be different that what we have set out in our curriculum. This is because Y5 and Y6 have never been swimming within the school setting due to Covid-19 so there will be swimming for 3 terms for each during this academic year.

As part of our PE curriculum, children attend swimming lessons from Y4 to Y6.

By the end of Year 6 children need to be able to: 

- swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres

- use a range of strokes effectively

-perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

Results for academic year 2017 - 2018 

84% of Y6 children can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres. 

88% of Y6 children can use a range of strokes effectively. 

81 % of Y6 children can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

Results for academic year 2018-2019

83% of Y6 can swim 25m.

73% of Y6 can use a range of strokes effectively.

61% can perform safe self-rescue in different water situations.

73% of Y6 can swim 25m.
